Assistant Director, Equivalency Determination Services
I’m Sarah Stern, the Assistant Director of Equivalency Determination Services on the Grants Services Team. Like the team my job allows for an opportunity to help facilitate grantee support worldwide. Studying Sociology sparked a strong interest in essentially all the sustainable development goals, and luckily CAF America is connected to each of them. I’ve been able to cultivate a deeper understanding of IRS rules pertaining to validation under Expenditure Responsibility and Equivalency Determination. This learning allows me to navigate risk management around grantmaking and assist charities reach eligibility. One of the best aspects of the job is knowing there is such a great magnitude of nonprofit work being done in the world. It is an awesome thing to communicate with global organizations that are so dedicated to a charitable purpose and I’m glad to be in a position of assistance.
Outside of work I might be found “jamming” on guitar, walking outside (towards mountains/ the ocean) or trying to create a set of suitable cooking skills.
