Raquel has more than 10 years of experience with philanthropy, social investment and nonprofit management focusing her practice on designing strategies, building partnerships, training and research.
She is Brazilian and is based in São Paulo.
Raquel started her career as a lawyer (admitted as an attorney-at-law in 2001), having worked in renowned law offices in Brazil and in Guatemala (Central America), where she lived for 5 years. She specialized in Brazilian Third Sector Legislation, has a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Social Rights (Child and Adolescent, Environmental and Consumer) and joined the nonprofit sector working with Child and Adolescent Rights at ILANUD, a Latin American agency of the United Nations. After that, she worked as Executive Director of a nonprofit organization responsible for one of the most eminent international cultural events, the Paraty International Literary Festival – FLIP.
Finally, she led for 7 years (until early 2018) the advisory services at IDIS – Institute for the Development of Social Investment, the Brazilian chapter of the Charities Aid Foundation Global Alliance. As Director of Projects at IDIS Raquel assisted several major multinational and national companies, high net worth families and charities in a broad spectrum of their needs in terms of solutions and impact. She supported the creation and curatorship of the annual editions of the Brazilian Philanthropy Forum, held in partnership with the Global Philanthropy Forum and was also involved in Advocacy initiatives, dialoguing with Senators and Deputies to achieve a better regulation environment for the Brazilian civil society.
During the last years she attended many international conferences and meetings regarding global philanthropy and enabling space for civil society.
