Gain insight into the nature of giving around the world
The World Giving Index is designed to provide evidence-based insight into the scope and nature of giving around the world. In order to reflect a culturally diverse planet, the report looks at three aspects of giving behavior. The questions that feed the report are:
Have you done any of the following in the past month:
- Donated money to a charity?
- Volunteered your time to an organisation?
- Helped a stranger, or someone you didn’t know who needed help?
Fieldwork is conducted by the market research firm, Gallup1 as part of its World Poll initiative.2
How has the United States’ giving patterns changed in the course of a year?
In last year’s 2013 World Giving Index, the United States was ranked #1. This year’s report details new information relevant to American giving, such as the United States’ ranking and how US giving rose 6% this year. The rankings show that when it comes to giving, the wealth of a nation does not necessarily equate to the level of charitable behavior among its people.
A global perspective
The report outlines countries listed by their World Giving Index ranking and score, with giving behavior participation and ranking; commentary on the giving culture in each country, and a look at the World Giving Index rankings over the last 5 years.
